The short version

BoardFlight gives you an estimate of what time to be at the airport. It is a well-researched estimate, and we are open about how it is built and where it is weakest — but it is still an estimate, not a promise. You are the one responsible for catching your flight. Please use the number as one input to your own judgment, not as a replacement for it.

What the arrive-by time is

It is a modeled estimate of when to be at your departure airport, built for a busy day rather than an average one. It covers the journey from the airport doors to your gate: check-in, bag drop, security, and the walk. It is based on your flight’s schedule and terminal, that airport’s own security and walking profile, and the hour you fly.

What it is not

It is not a guarantee that you will make your flight, and it does not include the time it takes you to get to the airport — driving, parking, transit, or traffic are yours to add. It does not cover connecting flights, and it cannot know about things no model can see: an unannounced checkpoint closure, a security incident, a road closure, a gate change late in the day, or your own airline’s discretion at the counter.

Your airline’s rules come first

Airlines set their own check-in, bag-drop, and boarding cutoffs, and they can change them. If your airline, your ticket, or your airport tells you to arrive by a certain time, follow that — it overrides anything on this site. The same goes for international travel, where document checks and immigration can add time we do not model.

Use your own judgment

If you are traveling with children, carrying unusual baggage, unfamiliar with the airport, have mobility needs, or simply would rather not run — give yourself more time than we suggest. Nothing about the estimate is worth a missed flight.

Limitation of liability

BoardFlight is provided as is, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any missed flight, missed connection, rebooking or change fee, lost time, or any other direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of this site or reliance on the estimates it produces. Flight schedules, delay information, and airport data come from third-party providers, and we do not warrant their accuracy or availability.

Traveler reports

If you report how your security wait went, you are telling us it is a genuine account of your own experience. Reports are aggregated to improve the estimate for everyone, and by submitting one you allow us to use it that way. Please don’t submit false or automated reports — they degrade the estimate for the next traveler, and we remove reports we believe are not genuine.

Acceptable use

The site is free and needs no account. Please don’t scrape it at volume, attempt to overload it, work around its rate limits, or resell its output as your own product. We may limit or block use that does. The site, its content, and the model behind it remain ours.

Availability and changes

This is an early product and it is being improved continuously. We may change, suspend, or withdraw any part of it, and we may update these terms — the date at the top will change when we do. Continuing to use the site after a change means the updated terms apply.
